Awesome to hear downloading now!  Quick question.  Are the windows bankable or are they a permanent fixture in the model you can do nothing about?

It's an option in the kit to blank windows. You blank the windows in the Fuse textures. An alpha layer will also need to be adjusted.

I'll have to look deeper for the Alpha Layer (Found it...derp).  I'm a little fatigued since I worked all night.  I didnt see it listed in the Channels in Photoshop.  Only some big black circle.  But its good to hear I can blank the windows at will! :-D

Hi gentlemen - the kit is fabulous, and I have my first livery almost completed already.  However, I notice there are two paint kit models included in the kit, and I am wondering how I can use them - presume they are there to permit preview, though not flight?  If so, please advise how they can be used?

Hi y'all,

So I saw a screenshot of the QW Dispatcher that was part of the paint kit, and saw that the maximum number of seats y'all show for the 788 is 226 (28 business/198 economy) and was wondering if there was any chance of y'all increasing that; I'm not sure about non-Star Alliance carriers, but there's a member of the Star Alliance that stuffs 335 seats (12B/323E) on some of their 788s . Incidentally, ANA manages to fit 395 (18B/377E) on some of their 789s.

Great news QW team, although it looks like you've already done plenty of paints from the screenshots on the website!

But did anyone else have to do a double take when looking at the title of this thread? Tongue

Max

EDIT - was reading through the included PDF to find that the link it gives for livery downloads is www.qualitywings.com, not www.qualitywingssim.com.

What I ended up doing was creating a new folder for the aircraft with the model, panel, sound, and texture folders. I pulled a model.cfg from the default 737-800, stuck the virtual cockpit model in there, and changed a line in the model.cfg to reflect the new model. Panel, sound, aircraft.cfg, and .air file came from the default 737-800, making any necessary changes in the aircraft.cfg, and the textures came from the paint kit. Only thing is you're missing a lot of textures like bump mapping and such since those weren't included in the paint kit, so although it gives you a general idea as to how it would look, you can't use it to gauge complete accuracy of the livery since the textures appear much darker than they should. If you want a general idea as to how it would look, it works fine, but if you want to get down to all the details, you're not going to be able to do that. Hope that makes sense.

EDIT: Two things. For one, if you have the freeware TDS 787, you can use the aircraft.cfg and .air file from that, and at the very least, you won't have a plane that's sunk into the ground. As for the textures appearing darker, the work-around I found to that is to get the plane into the air and fly inverted. No, I am not kidding. For whatever reason, it seems that certain parts of the plane is brighter when you fly inverted. So if you do that and you want to check a different part of the plane, change your heading.

Anyone else finding some minor inaccuracies?
In the -9 kit, the "Text Markings Dark" in LIVERY Markings are unaligned with a few ports.
Also, it looks like in the -9 one, the FWD cargo door light is not distanced correctly.

The animation is in the model. I believe the inner portions are on FUSE3 but it's not something a painter should concern themselves with

Is there an option to completely remove a window or are they hard coded into the model  ,I have tried the plugging method but it shows up a different colour to the rest of the livery and really stands out on the plane

Ive also tried various formats from over 10 years of repainting edit main and alpha etc but to no avail or is it because we only have the basic package and not full texture set so the colour will be out?

Thank you

Already asked this. Was the first reply. Yes and then you will need to remove the Alpha Channel corresponding window. I intend to make freighter variants.

Do keep in mind, though, that the paint kit model is missing a lot of the textures that you'd expect to see on the actual plane, like the bump mapping and stuff. What I've noticed is that if you're on the ground, the plane appears much darker than it actually is. The only way I got it to show up correctly was to get the plane into the air and fly it inverted. So it's best to wait until the plane is actually released if you wish to do any additional testing like that....or try what I did and see if it solves anything, but my guess is it probably won't.

I did see you question mine is about the colour variance with the blanked windows, I have tried every option with the alpha layer but it still the same

Kevin
Did try that if i invert at a 45 degree angle it the same colour but changes as we rotate the full 360 Cry so its something to do with the alpha layer
Probably will wait till they release the product so i can see what is what

Yeah, that's probably the best way to do it at this point.

Seem to have sorted this out now ,It is because there are no bump textures (the blue ones) included in the kit

I just took one out another plane of similar size and it corrected itself

File name i used
QW789_Fuse1_Bump
QW789_Fuse2_Bump
QW789_Fuse3_Bump

Guess the 788 would be the same but not checked it yet

Edit
starboard  texture one windows are hardcoded as far as i can see so they cant be removed

Hmm....interesting. This could really go one of two ways. Either they really are hard-coded in there or the paint kit models have some slight differences than the final for some reason.

i really love this plane... best one i ever saw, better than PMDG and definitely puts Aerosim to shame! just one thing, summer ended, don't want this to become such a huge topic but, will we expect this plane soon in October or not? preferably people who work in QualityWings and who know whats going on I want to reply.
Thank you for investing your time into this plane.

In comparison to what. As far as I'm aware, PMDG doesn't have a 787.

Their Facebook post said they ran into some issues, so it got pushed back. Given the backlash they got (which doesn't surprise me, given the way people are these days), I would imagine they are reluctant to answer questions like this, but ultimately up to them whether they answer them or not. I'm just warning you, don't be surprised if you don't get a response.

Corey, what exactly needs to happen with the alpha layer. I tried to blank out one of the windows, but all that ended up happening was that I had a window that was blanked out and slightly transparent.

Yeah, I just figured it out before I saw this post. Mine came out messed up because I had deleted it from the alpha completely, so it ended up being the same color as the fuselage. I should have known better than that. This is why I shouldn't be doing this right after work at stupid o'clock in the morning.

And are there any of the following online stores that sell Qualitywings 787:
