I have the same problem with the 1.21 update and P3D 4.5.

Its a known issue for versions lower than 4.4.

Other than that there not much else I can tell you. If this issue occurs it is due to the incompatibility with the installed version of P3D.

Problem with your answer is I have version 4.5 as I stated earlier. And I don't have this problem with 1.1.3. So what's changed in 1.2.1?

The 3D model that comes with ver 1.2.1 is not compatible with any P3d version earlier than 4.4.  The model from 1.1.3 was compatible with earlier versions. The fact that it does not work with 'your' 4.5  install (but it works with just about everyone elses) should be your clue.

I would suggest that even though you believe you have 4.5 installed, you really don't (At least not completely).  Perhaps you still have some part of P3D that is still an earlier version ?

When you installed P3D to 4.5, did you do a full un-install/ re-install ?  Or did you just install some of the components ?

Maybe you should be asking this over at the Prepar3d forums ?
